Lowes Build and Grow

This weeks (Saturday, September 14) from 10:00-11:00.  Lowes Build is a Classic Firetruck.  Each child will receive the complete building kit, an apron and safety goggles, and a patch to iron to their apron to show their accomplishments.  The build is completely free but you might want to pre-register here.  Although I have never had a problem just walking in to the Vienna or Marietta stores my friends from other places say they have been turned away without a registration.

Missing in Action

This weeks (Saturday, May 11) LOWES build is a Sweetheart Frame just in time for mothers day

Time: 10:00-11:00 or until they run out (Marietta has run out before)

Pre-register here: (not necessary but recommended--especially at the Parkersburg store since they keep record of who preregistered)

My recommendation is that these projects are great for 4years old-about 4th grade but younger and older kids are often there.

Home Depot Kids Workshop

We have been OVERLY impressed with Home Depot builds recently.  The last one had snacks, games and the build all in one!  This Saturday, (April 6) from 9:00AM-12:00PM is the next free workshop and they will be making a birdfeeder.  This build is best for kids ages 4-10 in my opinion but often younger kids are there building as well.

Lowes Build and Grow

My son will LOVE this week's Lowes Build.  Monster Jam®, featuring Monster Mutt® Saturday, March 9 (10:00-11:00 AM)  I recommend these builds for ages 4-8 although both younger and older kids are often there when we go.  It is recommended that you pre-register here although we have never found it absolutely necessary.

If you are planning to go to the one in Marietta plan to be there at 10:00 or you will not get a kit.  The man who is in charge said they expect to run out within a few minutes.  This is one of the most popular builds of the year.

Home Depot Kids Workshop

Saturday, March 2nd  9:00AM – 12:00PM Home Depot will be offering a Kids Workshop to build this race car.  The car will come with stickers to decorate however you want.  The home Depot builds are (in my opinion) much more kid friendly than the Lowes ones so you can easily take a child as young as 3 and build their own car!  No registration necessary.

The Winter Sky

Explore the Solar System and the winter sky! All of our January and February programs will include a star talk about the mid-winter evening sky, as well as a full dome video exploring the Solar System. The Thursday, January 31 show and the 2pm show on Sunday, February 10 will feature "Oasis in Space." Our special children's program will take place at 3:30pm on Sunday, February 10 and will include the child-friendly program "Secret of the Cardboard Rocket."

For reservations, please send an email to planetarium@marietta.edu (preferred) or leave a message at 740-376-4827. Please include your name, the number of seats you are reserving and your contact information. You will receive a confirmation via email or telephone. Groups larger than 20 are encouraged to schedule a special viewing.
Those without reservations will be admitted on a space-available basis.

This week (Saturday, Feb. 9 10:00AM) the LOWES kids build workshop will be making a wheel of love.  Not one of my favorite choices . . . especially for the boys!   I would recommend this free workshop is for kids ages  4-8 but you may find kids younger and older at your build.  Each child will get an apron, goggles and a patch of their accomplishment.  You are encouraged to pre-register here (although it usually isn't a problem at the Marietta or Parkersburg stores if you don't)

LOWES build and Grow is making a mystery project this week.   (Janurary 12th at 10:00). Each store may be getting a different kit so it will be fun to see what you build!  This happened once before and our store actually had a bunch of choices . . . it was nice to be able to select what we would most use.  Workshop is free but they do suggest you pre-register here (anyone else have trouble with that website?)  and I would suggest these projects for ages 4-9, although younger and older kids are often at the workshops.
