12:30pm-pet parade (horse arena)
2:00pm-haybale throw, free rock painting at the picnic shelter, egg toss, egg race
3:00pm-youth sack race
3:30pm-diaper derby (basketball court), rooster crowing contest (side stage), watermelon eating contest, hula hoop contest, spelling bee, toilet paper contest . . .
7:00pm-story telling
9:30pm-fireworks

Harvest Moon Festival-Parkersburg City Park

49th Annual Harvest Moon Arts & Crafts Festival September 17th & 18th, 2011 at City Park, Parkersburg, WV
Saturday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission: $3.00 General, $2.00 Senior Citizens and 10 & Under Free

All Children must be accompanied by an adult.

175 booth displays of crafts, foods, apple butter making, soap making and more.

Pleasants County Fair

The 12th Annual Pleasants County Fair will be this weekend.  Sept 17-18 at the St. Marys Marina.  Published events are as follows.
Sept 17---
6:30pm-queen contest on the main stage
7:00pm-mini rod tractor pull and mud bog (at the St. Marys High school barn area)
7:30pm-concert by No More Tears on the main stage

Sept 18---
9:00am-events begin at the barn area-livestock show; wood chopping contest, draft pony pull, antique engines exhibit, ATV drag race
9:00am-events begin at the marina area-inflatables, miniature donkeys, cornhole tournament, sack races, art exhibition, youth games, barral car rides, pedal tractor pull, horse trolley rides and more.
1:00pm-live music begins at the marina and continues through the McGuffey Lane band on stage at 8pm

A horse trolley will take fair goers from te marina area to the barn area throught the fair.

West Virginia Roadkill Cook-Off----Marlinton, WV

I read this in Readers Digest and I just had to share.  This is a real event taking place on September 24 in Marlinton, WV.   You can read all the details here.  Dishes will included splat cat and smeared hog with groundhog gravy.  I mean, what could be more fun than that?  :-)
