The Winter Sky

Explore the Solar System and the winter sky! All of our January and February programs will include a star talk about the mid-winter evening sky, as well as a full dome video exploring the Solar System. The Thursday, January 31 show and the 2pm show on Sunday, February 10 will feature "Oasis in Space." Our special children's program will take place at 3:30pm on Sunday, February 10 and will include the child-friendly program "Secret of the Cardboard Rocket."

For reservations, please send an email to planetarium@marietta.edu (preferred) or leave a message at 740-376-4827. Please include your name, the number of seats you are reserving and your contact information. You will receive a confirmation via email or telephone. Groups larger than 20 are encouraged to schedule a special viewing.
Those without reservations will be admitted on a space-available basis.

Arther Christmas Family Movie Night

The Parkersburg and Wood County Library is having a movie night on Monday, December 17 from 7-9pm.  Their Blogger page says "Come join us for a fun time while we decorate sugar cookies, have punch and eggnog and enjoy this wonderful movie!!"  It's in the Summer's Auditorium which I think is downstairs in the library.

Chick Fil A Breakfast with Santa Cow

Chick Fil A Parkersburg (self standing store only) is having a Breakfast with Santa Cow event. 

Saturday, Dec. 15 from 8:30-9:30.  Kids will get free Chick N Mini's and a meet and great with Santa Cow.  (last year they had cookies and crafts too . . . not sure if that will happen this year or not)  This is a CROWDED event so if your little one is leary of crowds you might skip this one.

Crafts 2000 Make It Take It Event

Saturday, December 1st 11:00-3:00 Crafts 2000 will be having a make it take it event for the kids making Ceramic ornaments. 

Sunday, December 2nd from 11:00-3:00 they will be making an adorable Gingerbread Card (I think this is more of a teen/adult activity)

The lady that runs this event is SOOO good with the kids and I always learn about new craft ideas and products.  She told me that she may have some wooden ornaments available for the younger kids to paint instead of the ceramic ones.  Either way, I know it will be fun for even the preschool set.  (my 5 year old has ALWAYS enjoyed the crafts)  These projects take only a few minutes and all the materials are set up and ready.  Well organized and easy.

Painted Frog FREE kids story hour

The Painted Frog is having their FREE story hour this Friday, November 30 at 7:30.  We went to this event last month and it's a nice little story hour with small craft afterwards.  Took us about a half hour last time and was a nice little wind down activity before heading home for bed.
