Sorry for the leave of absence on the website . . . hopefully this is the first of many Christmas money saving posts as we head into the Christmas season.

Shutterfly is one of my favorite online photo printing sites.  I have been extremely happy with their promotions and the quality of all the prints and photo books I have received from them in the past.  I was especially thrilled to see the wide variety of Christmas cards they have available this year.  If you are a new customer of theirs, you will also receive 50 free prints with your order!!  That should get your photo album for 2010 going on the right foot!  I also love that you can pick up your prints at CVS (or Target or Walgreens) which I am already shopping at each week so this isn't another stop in my errands list if I need them right away.  If I don't need them right away, I can always have them sent to my home. 

Shutterfly has one of the best sites for religious photo cards that I have seen anywhere and offers many cards that you can personalize but still celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.  You can find all the religious options here.  My personal favorite is this one, because of it's clear message as well as the ability to put my family photo in it.  I love how Shutterfly has allowed you to personalize your cards without having to sacrifice and put a Christmas message you are uncomfortable with as well.

Another one of my favorites is in the story cards section.  This section of cards is great for Christmas because of it's ability to tell a story of your year to friends and family who perhaps are not able to keep up with you throughout the year.  Here are two of my favorites from the story cards section.  I can just picture pregnancy pictures in the first month or two and then infant and growing up pictures of my best friends baby in this first card!  :-)  The top 10 moments card would make a GREAT place for me to put the top 10 quotes of Andrew through the year . . . he certainly seems to be full of them!!

Don't have much time this year?  Perhaps the best feature of all is that Shutterfly will actually stamp and mail the cards for you . . . just upload or enter your addresses into the system and mail them out!  Easy as pie right?  :-)  (although I never really understood that since pie is actually quite difficult to make)

Free Bowling This Saturday

This Saturday over 3,000 bowling centers around the US will be offering free bowling in an attempt to break a world record during National Bowling Week.  Each person in your party must have their own copy of the coupon that can be found here.  The coupon is for a free game up to $6 (you pay the difference if it costs more than that) and you will have to pay for your own shoes.  Still, this could make for a fun and different Saturday activity for you and your family.

Home Depot Kids Workshops

Home Depot Kids Workshop will be held this weekend at all Home Depot stores from 9-noon. They will be making a school bus pencil organizer this week (great back to school project!) Workships are designed for children ages 5-12. Go here fore more details, but no sign up is necessary.

"The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children."

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Chick Fil A Parkersburg

Odor Grabber Diaper Pail Refill Review

Saw these at Walmart a few weeks ago and thought it was great!  An off brand bag to put in my diaper genie to save money!  I was all for it and excited to try it out since it was $1 cheaper than the diaper genie refill.  I was severely disappointed.  This was not a continuous bag like the genie refills but instead was 10 individual bags that you put on with a plastic ring that is included in the pack. 

I found the ring easy to use and the concept worked as well as the genie brand as far as odor and cleanliness go.  I found that the bags were too big for me to use up in a week though.  So, I was throwing away an entire bag with only a few diapers at the bottom and it seemed like such a waste.  The genie bags let you tear it off right at the top of whatever fill you have so that none is wasted. 

The Odor grabber claims that it has a diaper capacity of 300 and I can't confirm or deny their claim on that . . . but . . . who wants to leave the diapers in the pail until the bags are COMPLETELY full?  Not me!  On trash day, my diapers go out NO EXCEPTION!!  For this reason, I won't buy Odor grabber again.  When trash day comes around I can't justify throwing away a half used bag and I also can't keep diapers in my house longer than a week just to use up a bag.  Yick.

Reminder-Carson Barnes Circus tonight!

Belpre, Ohio is having a Carson Barnes Circus today at 4:30 and 7:30 pm at the City Lot on Washington Blvd.  Not sure of the admission prices but likely according to their website between $16-$20 each adult.  Lots of free kids tickets available so be sure and search around before you go.

Giant Eagle-looks like it's all about sauces and seasonings at Giant Eagle this week.  cheap BBQ sauce, salad dressing, sour cream, dip . . . otherwise pretty slow.  Remember Giant Eagle deals run from Thursday to Thursday so if you are headed there for this weeks deals be sure to get there by Wednesday night.

Another great family week at the Drive In Movie theater in Wood County

Did you know there are still Drive In Movie Theaters open in WV? One of them is in Wood County-this theater offers two movies each night and with your admission price you can stay for both movies. Most people bring along blankets and chairs and just sit outside so everyone in the car can see better but you can also sit right in your car like the old fashioned movies. This week is a GREAT family week since both features are rated PG.

Kroger Daytona Promotion

This is the week for stockup at Kroger if you have coupons!  They are running a buy 10 items get $3 back promotion.  Be sure to head to kroger.com, shortcuts.com, and cellfire.com to add e-coupons to your Kroger card before you head to the store since many of the items on the promotion are also offering e-coupons.  (for some reason the Marietta store doesn't seem to work for e-coupons very often so be warned that if you shop there you may or may not get the e-coupons taken from your bill)

I was able to get Country Time Lemonaide mix for .50 after coupon (peel off one I found last week), Frozen pizza's for $0.62 each, Oscar Mayer Hotdogs for 0.99, Pizza Rolls for $0.55, Betty Crocker Cookie Mix for $0.69 . . . you get the idea.  It's certainly not a health food week but if you want to stock your freezer and cupboards with easy convienence foods (or kid foods) this is the week for you.  See this website for actual coupon matchups for the Mid Atlantic Region (most of WV) and links to printable coupons.

Vienna Public Library is sponsering a summer reading program again this summer.  There are reading logs available in the library for every age group from 2 year old through adults.  When you read the specified number of books for your age group; you turn in your log for a chance at some great prizes.  The logs are already out and ready to be filled out so get started reading right away.

In addition they will be having "story hour" type events for children of all ages this summer.  For a complete list click here.  I'll try to feature them again several times this summer as a reminder of some of their best events.

GREAT FAMILY WEEK at the drive in!

Did you know there are still Drive In Movie Theaters open in WV?  One of them is in Wood County-this theater offers two movies each night and with your admission price you can stay for both movies.  Most people bring along blankets and chairs and just sit outside so everyone in the car can see better but you can also sit right in your car like the old fashioned movies.  This week is a GREAT family week since both features are rated PG.

Know any military families?

Sorry this post is late but you can still get in on the Build and Grow Clinic at LOWES tomorrow if you don't have plans.  They will be making this cute picture frame for father's day.  Clinic is designed for 6 through 12 year old children.
