This weeks' Home Depot kids workshop is an organizer.  Workshop is for kids ages 3-8 (my suggestions) and is from 9:00-12:00 at ALL home depot stores.  Just ask where the kids workshop will be meeting.  As always, they are completely free!!  Here is what the home depot website says about it.

"Kids can build an organizer to store hair bands, race cars… or make a great gift for DAD!

• Kids will learn to build their very own organizer while learning tool safety
• Have fun, make friends and gain a sense of achievement and work ethic

Jungle Safari in Parkersburg

Once again this year the Jungle Safari is coming to the Park Shopping Center in Parkersburg.
May 23-May 27.
Wednesday-Saturday 10:00AM-9:00PM  Sunday 11:00AM-5:00PM

Come see lions, tigers, goats, llamas, monkeys, and more.  At 7:30 each evening you can see the tigers eat.  The event is free but there will be many things you CAN pay for if you want.  Pony rides, photos with the animals and "secret" animals viewed only with payment were all there last year.  A fun event for free but be sure and watch for the "extras" when you go.

LOWES build and Grow Clinic this week (Saturday May 26, 10:00 AM) will be making this ice cream truck. Go here to sign up for this free kids building clinic (but if you don't sign up you can still attend) to help them get a count of how many to prepare for.

Each child will receive all the items needed for their truck as well as a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certificate when they complete their project.

Project designed for children in grades 2-5. (but, my 4 year old has been several times and there were TONS of kids his age there too . . . I would say the age is a guideline and if you are willing to help the child 4 and up is probably fine)

Product Review-Fresh Take Cheese and Breadcrumb mix

It is not often that I find a product that I just can not wait to promote on here but I have found one.  The new Kraft Fresh Take Cheese and Breadcrumb mixes are so good!  My family has already tasted three of the flavors (although Italian Parmesan is our favorite) and we LOVE them.  The seasoned breadcrumbs, the cheese, and the bag to "shake" it all in is all included in this pack and it couldn't be easier to use.  Sure, you could buy your own cheese and breadcrumbs and ziplock and make it all work together but this all being in one pack is SO convienent and easy.  It takes me about 5 minutes to get the meat in the oven with this pack!  I can whole heartedly recommend this one with two thumbs up, especially for those busy mommas out there needing a "homecooked" meal in minutes!!  LOTS of coupons out for them right now too since they are a new product so keep your eyes open!

Go here for $0.50 off a pack (Kroger will double that to $1)

Marietta College Planetarium Presents (FREE of charge although donations are encouraged)
Transit of Venus (May 2012)

◦Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 7:00pm
◦Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2:00pm

On June 5, 2012, we will have the opportunity to witness a rare astronomical occurence, the passage of Venus in front of the Sun. But if we miss this one, we'll have to wait until 2117 to see the next! (Don't look directly at the Sun! Appropriate precautions need to be taken to view this event safely!) This mostly-live presentation will explain what a Venus transit is, why it does not happen more often, the historical importance of Venus transits within astronomy, and other ways in which astronomers use planetary transits to learn about our Universe.

They will begin taking reservations for the May show on May 7, 2012.

call the college or go to their website here for more information.

Home Depot Kids Workshop

Home Depot Kids Workshop will be held this weekend (Saturday, May 5, 2012) at all Home Depot stores from 9-noon. They will be making a planter box this week. Workshops are designed for children ages 5-12. Go here for more details, but no sign up is necessary. You can show up anytime between 9 and about 11:30 and still have time to finish your project (assuming they don't run out of projects). It takes very little time and if your child is anything like mine he or she will be VERY proud of this project they made on their own. Younger children will especially enjoy the painting time where they can paint their new projects.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.
