Marietta College Planetarium Presents (FREE of charge although donations are encouraged)
Transit of Venus (May 2012)

◦Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 7:00pm
◦Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2:00pm

On June 5, 2012, we will have the opportunity to witness a rare astronomical occurence, the passage of Venus in front of the Sun. But if we miss this one, we'll have to wait until 2117 to see the next! (Don't look directly at the Sun! Appropriate precautions need to be taken to view this event safely!) This mostly-live presentation will explain what a Venus transit is, why it does not happen more often, the historical importance of Venus transits within astronomy, and other ways in which astronomers use planetary transits to learn about our Universe.

They will begin taking reservations for the May show on May 7, 2012.

call the college or go to their website here for more information.
